1. GROUP DESCRIPTION:

Give background information about your group, i.e. how it was formed, who is involved, etc.

The West Bowling Neighbourhood Action Group was formed in June 2003, the group constituted ‘known’ workers & residents who were already actively involved in the community.  The ‘early’ group then identified ‘others’ that needed to be involved. The group came up with several ways of engaging residents to not only find out what they thought about the area, but also to gauge an interest in joining the Neighbourhood Action Group.

2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE GROUP:

What you wish to do and how you will do it?

To work with mainstream service providers to improve/bend the way services are delivered to meet the needs of residents.

A ‘sustainable’ group of residents & workers to ensure mainstream service delivery remains effective and continues to meet the needs of the community.

To improve networking and partnership working of agencies working in the area.

To work with current & on-going initiatives that link in with this action plan.

3. FINDINGS:

What have you found out as a result of consultation/s, research, from local knowledge, etc.

Residents had concerns regarding drug dealing, fear of crime, the environment, housing, health & social care, education & employment as well as services for both elderly & young people.

Previous consultations carried out by Bradford Trident and Bradford Council was also considered.
